It’s Picnic Time

Can you believe it’s already been a year since our 50^th Class Reunion?  Time does get away from us, but memories of those moments spent with friends that we’ve known forever are special indeed.  Second chances are rare, so please join us for a great afternoon reunion picnic.  You will not be disappointed!

Our ‘VHS Class of 64’ Picnic is just days away as we send this reminder.  It’s on Saturday afternoon October 3^rd, the first day of the 2015 Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque.

The VHS picnic will run from 3 to 7pm; and it’s at a beautiful indoor/outdoor spot in the impressive NM Veterans Memorial on Louisiana, just North of Gibson (1100 Louisiana Blvd SE).  There’s seating and tables both inside and out, and it’s perfect even if the weather isn’t.

Here’s one of the best parts: there is no cost to everyone who attends.  And there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, beer and wine; all provided free of charge. The food and adult beverages are donated by your Reunion Committee members.  That’s right, free beer, burgers and dogs.  It doesn’t get any better than that.  Yes there will be Hatch green chile for the burgers, too!

Come by for a few minutes just to say ‘hi’; or spend the afternoon enjoying friends, food, and conversation.  We’re hoping to see everyone again. 

For those who like to pot luck, please bring your favorite dish! Everyone on the committee is planning on doing just that (dogs and burgers aren’t for everyone) and we have some pretty good cooks.  We’d love to taste your favorite dish.

Date and Time:  Saturday, October 3^rd, 2015

Location: NM Veterans Memorial on Louisiana just north of Gibson.  1100 Louisiana NE 87108

Food: Hamburgers, hotdogs (and condiments), various beers and wine, water… will be provided (until we run out).  Pot luck dishes brought by you will be appreciated by all.  Plates, cups utensils will be provided.

The Venue:  The NM Veterans Memorial was chosen for a number of reasons.  It’s a world class facility honoring our own classmates who have served.  So, this is special thanks to our vets for that service.  It’s a beautiful and moving park and everyone who visits is impressed.  The fact that one of our classmates was very instrumental in the design and execution of this facility didn’t hurt when the time came to reserve our picnic venue.  It’s also a great place for our picnic.

Tours: Starting at 2:30pm and again around 6pm, classmate and veteran Lou Hoffman will conduct brief tours of the Memorial Park.  Lou knows the park very well because he helped design it.  He raised money and brought a completely unique memorial to New Mexico and our veterans.  This is a one of a kind opportunity and we’re all thankful that Lou is on our class reunion committee and is offering to do this.
