Leonard and I went to Army basic training together at Ft. Bliss TX. in January of 1966. Joe Lujan (a junior, was a track star at Valley, see pages 66 & 67 of the 1964 Saga) and was also with us.

LUCERO -- LEONARD LLOYD Age 65 of Albuquerque passed away Friday, April 27, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Lisa Henneman and husband Glen; grandchildren, Nicole, Kevin and Andrew; sister, Jackie Gutierrez and husband, Ernie; half-sisters, Rena, Sandy Miner and husband, Bob, Carol Polaco and husband, Lorenzo; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lenore Miner and son, Martin. Leonard was born in Santa Fe, NM to Abad E. and Emma R. Lucero. He graduated from Valley High School in 1964, spent three years in the Army and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Forestry. In 2006, Leonard retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 37 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Friday, May 4, 2012 at 8:00 am followed by celebration of the Mass at 9:00 am, at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church, 5901 St. Joseph Dr NW.
