Saturday Night Dinner

Saturday Night Dinner/Dance - On a beautiful, warm, fall evening, we gathered in the outdoor Hummingbird Garden Pavillon at the Hyatt Tamaya on the Santa Ana Pueblo north of Bernalillo. This is the site of many weddings and special gatherings, and it suited our Viking party perfectly. Close to the Bosque with the Sandia Mountains as a backdrop, we celebrated a 50 year Reunion; and for a moment we were all kids again.

The party started with a visit from the Valley High Cheerleaders who performed for our enthusiastic crowd of near 150 people. Mahem ensued when the "A" Team Cheerleaders were joined by our own 'D' Team Cheerleaders, who made up in enthusiasm all that they lacked in skill and comeliness. With wigs and tutu's, Ray Gere, Neil Rudolph and Mikell Becker brought the house down in laughter and the party began.

Between dinner and dancing, the sunlight dimmed and soft lighting from the star like lights above created a perfect atmosphere for visiting and picture taking; and we remembered each other again.

Tony Scarton, our Class President forever, greeted us and thanked our many veterans in attendance. We passed out sponsor gifts, square danced, rock and rolled and laughed and enjoyed a night that was too brief and perfect. Hugs and smiles and warm memories reminded us why we had traveled distances in time and space to come together again for a special moment...shared. And now it's a memory to be cherished and enjoyed for many years to come.

All of our Viking Class of '64 were there... in person or in spirit. We remembered you, those unable to attend and those who are no longer with us. And we remembered that time when Viking Spirit was celebrated in bonfires and class assemblies and in friendships that are with us forever.

Hint: If the pictures are too small for you, try this computer trick: While holding down the 'Ctrl' key, depress the '+' key a time or two. That will (on most computers) make the images on your screen larger.

Likewise, using the 'Ctrl' key with the '-' key (to the right of the zero key) will make the images smaller again.
