Donna Eidson (Heustess)

HEUSTESS, DONNA RAYNA EIDSON

Donna Rayna Eidson Heustess, 68, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 after a decades-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Donna was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 25, 1946 to Robert "Bob" H. Eidson (deceased) and Mary Arvell Eidson of Albuquerque.

Donna was a graduate of Valley High School in Albuquerque, of which she was very proud to have been a Viking.

Donna was proud of her job as a technical fabricator at EE&G Energy Measurements Division in Albuquerque, where she worked for 15+ years until she was forced to retire on disability in 1991 because of MS related issues.

Donna was an active amateur radio operator (mostly vhf) until her retirement in 1991 and held the call sign WB5GFC.

Donna is survived by her husband, James "Ellis" Heustess, of Albuquerque and one daughter, Lori Lynn Heustess, of Missouri City, TX. Donna and Ellis were married in Albuquerque on December 25, 1963 and almost made it to 51 years together. Donna often joked that Ellis should not ever forget their anniversary.

Donna became a very private person upon her retirement and should be remembered for her endurance as a super fighter of MS, and her continued unlimited endurance without ever complaining about her many struggles with MS, even up to and including her final days.

Donna requested cremation and preferred that there not be any formal memorial services. Donna and her family would want those that knew her to remember her in your prayers and to know that she has finally escaped the wrath of MS and is now resting in peace.

In lieu of flowers, if family or friends would like to make a donation in her name, Donna would be proud that they be made to Grace Adult Care Homes, LLC where she spent the majority of her last 21 months care of 7100 Carriage Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, or by calling (505) 888-4434, or to Presbyterian Hospice where she was cared for during both Hospice Care and Palliative Care 8100 Constitution Place NE #400, Albuquerqu e, NM 87110, 505-559-6068.

Sadly, we lost another classmate in 2014.   Donna was unable to attend the reunion because of her illness but she was a faithful follower of her classmates' activities on our website.  And she loved keeping up with what was going on for the reunion.  Her husband Ellis wrote us a wonderful letter; he said, in part:

..."Although Donna knew that she couldn’t attend the reunion, she logged in everyday (when she could or I would log in for her) so that she could “see” what was new. You ALL did such a great job on all  parts of the reunion both pre and post.  The website was like gold to her and was one of her highlights of the day whenever she was able to log in or listen to me read the scripts."   Ellis Huestess

Thank you Ellis for telling us that we brightened her days,  Rest in Peace, Donna; your classmates remember you in our thoughts and prayers.

Donna was my friend from grade school days at Griegos Elementary thru high school at Valley High.  It was a pleasure to have shared so many classes with her and to have known her as a good friend and classmate thru the years.  So sorry she could not have been at the reunion and was unaware of her extreme illness.  She will be greatly missed!    -  Verby Van Houten

Donna must have been a truly brave and strong women to have beaten MS for so long!  I hope her family knows that we will always remember her and her beautiful, gentle smile.  May they find comfort in our condolences.
